"The Bounty Hunter" Winky McGee scores back to back victories at Friendship Motor Speedway...
(05.01.2010) Elkin, North Carolina - Friendship Motor Speedway would never miss a beat this week as the speedway would now be under new management from Ketih Clonch, General Manager and Andy Johnson, Promoter. The weather would hold off for just long enough to get this one in the books before the skies would let loose after it was all said and done. Many fans, teams, and drivers would come from miles around to see just what the best dirt track racing was all about. This week featured the third 2010 weekly championship night of racing action with all five divisions known as the Flow Automotive Crate Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the Unsponsored U-Car division.
In the Flow Automotive Crate Late Model event, Winky McGee of Pilot Mountain would show strong all night long as he would set quick time in two lap time trials to claim an extra fifty dollars donated by a fan. As the green flag dropped, McGee would lead early with Justin Hudspeth knocking on her back door for the entire race. After it was all said and done it would be "The Bounty Hunter" Winky McGee rolling into the 600/1200 WSJS Winners Circle to claim back to back feature wins and picked up the $1000.00 winners prize. Justin Huspeth would finish a very strong second to add a few points to his points lead. Jimmy Watson would finish third over Richard Clew in fourth. Adam Blankenship would have a great finish this week as he would round out the top five.
In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Daniel Moss would have a little extra incentive to win this week as the Elk Creek, Virginia native would be racing for $550.00 to win and an extra fifty dollars donated by one of his fans. Moss would have his work cut out for him as he and Joel Bray, who would be coming off back to back wins, would do battle for the entire race. Daniel Moss would be able to hold off Joel Bray as the finish would be one many fans would see standing up as Joel Bray would spin in turn four of the final lap while Moss would go on to score his first victory of the year. Jeff Parsons would rally to second over Shaun Robinson in third. Fourth would be Jerry Bray while Nathan Walker would bring it home fifth in his season debut. Joel Bray would fall back to finish sixth.
In the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, in yet another exciting feature event it would be Billy Robbins and Junior Welborn doing battle as they would trade the lead several times. Just when you thought one might have it in the bag the other would make his move back to the lead. As laps would wind down it would be none other than Junior Welborn claiming his first victory of the season taking home $400.00. Defending champion Billy Robbins would cross the line in second over Robbie Brown in third. Chris Hudspeth would have another consistant good finish in fourth while fifth would be Toby Jones.
In the Basic Finance Renegade V-8 division, Mr. Excitement Jeff Parsons would be wheelin' and dealin' this week as he would have extra money to run for with a $400.00 winners prize on the line. Parsons would take it all the way to victory lane with his first win of the season as the defending champion. Michael Bennett would have some "hot wheels" this week as he would claim second. Points leader Jason Donahue would finish third. Mickey and Fabian Anderson would load it up this week finishing fourth and fifth.
In the Unsponsored U-Car feature, more extra money would be up for grabs as there would be $250.00 on the line for this feature event. Returning winner Britton Settle would come back for more this week as he would claim back to back wins. Rick Long would have a strong run this week as he would finish second and pick up the current points lead in this division. Zachary Lankford is looking stronger and better every week as he would finsh third. Ariana Holsclaw would be fourth with fifth to Jason Byrd.
Congratulations to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into event number four of the 2010 racing season Saturday on May 8th for a regular weekly championship night of racing action. On our next event we will feature all five of our regular divisions known as the Flow Automotive Crate Late Models paying $1000.00 To-Win, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the Unsponsored U-Car division. Come on out as we would love to have you as part of our dirt racing family.
