By Matt Prieur - Owosso Speedway Ovid, Michigan (Tuesday, May 4, 2010): After losing the Feature to Mother Nature on Opening Night 2010 Part I, the 2010 racing season at the Owosso Speedway continues THIS Saturday, May 8th with Opening Night Part II / Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Night and Ladies Night at the Big "O" The second of the two co-headlining divisions within the Weekly Local Racing Series; The Drive Train Specialists Modifieds open their 2010 season and will be joined by the Shiawassee Shores Pro Stocks, Shattuck Specialty Advertising Pure Stocks, and Okemos Auto Service Sport Stocks. The Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Late Models get the week off as part of the bi-weekly rotating schedule throughout the 2010 racing season with the Drive Train Specialists Modifieds. All members of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club (MARFC) who show their 2010 membership card get into the races absolutely FREE! MARFC was established in 1965 and has been a pillar in the short track racing community in the state of Michigan since then. Owosso Speedway was one of the charter members of the fan club that first year! MARFC is a non-profit organization which is basically a social club for all those interested in, or actively involved in auto racing The primary purpose of the club is to promote auto racing in and around Michigan and to honor those who have been successful in any aspect of auto racing. Club meetings are held monthly during the off season from October through April. These meetings feature racing films, guest speakers, and tours of racing facilities in and around Michigan. With the exception of the banquet, all meetings are free to members. The cost of annual membership dues are: $10.00 for single person, or $15.00 married couple or family (2 adults and all children up to age of 15). Payment of dues entitles you to a membership card, window decal, and a monthly newsletter. Memberships run from January 1st of each year and expire on December 31st of the same year. Ticket Prices for Saturday, May 8th are: Adults (17-59) $12.00 - Seniors (60 and Over): $10.00 - Students (9-16) $8.00 - Kids (8 and Under) FREE - Pit Passes $25.00. The Pit Gates AND Grandstands BOTH open at "High Noon" 12:00p.m., every Saturday as Fans get the chance to spend the entire day at the track by tailgating in the parking lot, watching Practice and enjoying a great day at the track. Practice Starts at 2:00p.m., with Qualifying starting at 5:00p.m. Racing gets the green flag at 7:00p.m. After this weekends' activities, the next event on the 2010 schedule will be on Saturday, May 15th as it will be $25 Car Load Night at the Big "O" This is your chance to PACK as many people as you can into your personal vehicle, rent a bus, ride in a semi truck, do what you need to do to Pack as many people as possible into your vehicle and come out to the Owosso Speedway and enjoy an action packed night of racing! The Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Late Models return after a week off as part of their bi-weekly rotating schedule while the Shiawassee Shores Pro Stocks, Shattuck Specialty Advertising Pure Stocks, and Okemos Auto Service Sport Stocks will also be in action.
