South Carolina Anderson Motor SpeedwayAnderson Motor Speedway Hosts US Legends Regional Qualifier on Friday, May 7th Posted:5/6/2010 Anderson Motor Speedway Hosts US Legends Regional Qualifier on Friday, May 7th Anderson, SC - The Anderson Motor Speedway community is looking forward to the upcoming Legends Regional Qualifier Event Friday night, May 7th. Legends, which are 5/8-scale fiberglass full-fender versions of the famed NASCAR Modifieds driven by legendary drivers such as Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, Curtis Turner, Speedy Thompson and Banjo Matthews, are an integral part of the Anderson Motor Speedway weekly race program. Legends drivers are expected from across the Southeast as the winner of this Regional Qualifier will be guaranteed a spot in the Legends National Event to be held in October. Legends competition is divided into four categories: The Pro Division is for the experienced drivers. The Masters Division features drivers 40 years and older. The Semi-Pro Division is the novice class, featuring the drivers that are new to the sport or have been inactive in other forms of racing for a while. Then there is the Young Lions Division which is designated for the drivers between the ages of 12 and 16. AMS will open the pit gate at 4PM with open practice for all divisions beginning at 6:15PM with a Driver’s Meeting scheduled for 7:30PM. Green flag racing begins at 8PM. As a special treat for the fans AMS will hold an On-track Autograph Session prior to the start of the Legends Main Event(s). Also on the racing card will be stock car racing in the AMS weekly racing divisions including the B Minis, C Mini, Renegades, Super Renegades and BM Modified. Kids of the Anderson Motor Speedway Jr Fan Club can take part in Bicycle Races. Kids will be divided into four age categories and winners will receive a trophies and prizes to commemorate the event. Free face-painting is always offered to kids under 12!
